Your household trash is picked up every week on the day indicated by the boundary lines on the Pickup Schedule.
There is no collection on these holidays:
- New Year's Day – January 1
- Memorial Day – May 26
- Independence Day – July 4
- Labor Day – September 1
- Thanksgiving – November 27
- Christmas – December 25
All collections following these holidays will be a day late.
Acceptable Trash
Regular household trash
- All refuse must be placed within in the confines of a trash can when placed for collection.
- Total weight of the can or bag can't be greater than 50 pounds, or 48 gallons.
- Empty and flatten cardboard boxes.
- Cardboard boxes containing trash will not be collected
Large items
- Picked up every other week on the same day as recyclables and yard waste (see Pickup Schedule for collection dates). Limited to 4 items per pickup, not more than 200 pounds per item.
- Some common large items include:
- furniture
- mattresses
- lawn mowers (with the oil and gas removed)
- ironing boards
- bowling balls
- carpet (rolled and tied in 4-foot sections)
- Lumber bundled 4 feet in length and weighing no more than 50 pounds. Limit 1 bundle per large item pickup.
Paint
- Must be dried before setting out for collection.
- Clean, empty cans should be recycled.
- Partially used cans can be taken to the Household Hazardous Waste facility for disposal or for other residents to use:

NO Hazardous Materials
- Common items include:
- cleaners
- solvents
- gasoline
- other toxic, corrosive, explosive, or highly combustible materials
- Should be taken to the Household Hazardous Materials Facility

NO Vehicle Parts
- Fluids and car parts will not be collected.
- Metal parts and tires can be disposed of at the La Crosse County Landfill for a fee or contact a hauler directly.
- Tires, batteries, and most fluids can be disposed of at an automotive business or at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility
