This site is designed to keep the citizens of La Crosse updated on the various activities of the Refuse and Recycling Department. Delivery of the new garbage and recycling carts for city-serviced residential properties is now complete. You must use your new carts for collection. PLEASE NOTE that carts are assigned to your address by the serial # on the front of the cart. Write down the serial #'s for your records or call Harter's or the City for your serial #'s. Do not take carts placed at other people's properties. If you permanently mark your cart it will be your responsibility to clean it off at a later time or be billed accordingly. For more information on the new changes, see the tab to the left titled 2014 Automated Collection.
Missing Carts: If your carts are missing, check the surrounding area for the serial #’s assigned to your address. Call Harter's to see if they have a record of your carts being scanned at another location. If you are still unable to find your cart(s), please complete an incident report and wait to be contacted by the Recycling Coordinator. If carts are not found there will be an $85 fee per cart to replace them.
Cart Exchange requests made after April 2, 2014 will be billed a service fee of $20/address. Currently, we do not have an online form available at this time. Requests can only be made over the phone by contacting our office. Due to high call volume, if you leave us a message, be sure to include your name, address, phone number, and the serial #’s for the carts you are calling about. It will be a faster process when we return your call.
