HHM is now accepting appliances that contain Freon and other refrigerants for a $20 fee.

Salvaging is disassembling an item to remove parts that have potential recycling value. Salvaging electronic waste, especially TV''s, can be dangerous and is potentially a violation of WDNR regulations. Because of the increased cost of disposal and an increased risk to employee, the Household Hazardous Materials Program changes $0.25/pound for any electronic waste that has been salvaged. No exceptions.

Residents and K-12 schools can drop off e-waste at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility at NO CHARGE; businesses at $0.20/lb.

*Citizens can also drop off e-waste at these facilities for little to no fee.

Landfill Banecycle6b.png
As of September 1, 2010, a state wide ban was put into effect which prohibits electronics from being disposed of at landfills and incinerators. Because of this new ban, Harter’s Quick Clean-Up is no longer able to pickup electronics from residents along with their regular trash/large item pickup, etc. The following is a list of the now unacceptable devices that can no longer be picked up:

  • TV’s
  • Computer monitors
  • Desktop computers, laptops
  • Computer peripherals (keyboards, mice, hard drives, speakers, modems, etc)
  • Fax Machines, printers, scanners, copiers
  • DVD players, VCR’s, DVR’s and other video players
  • Telephones with a video display (Cell Phones)
