ABANDONED VEHICLES
Any vehicle left unattended for more than forty-eight hours on any public street or grounds, or on private property where parking is prohibited, limited or restricted, without the permission of the owner or lessee, is deemed abandoned and constitutes a public nuisance, and may be ticketed and towed, with the vehicle owner being responsible for all charges, including storage.
NIGHT PARKING / ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING
From November 1 to April 1, between 1:00 A.M. and 6:00 A.M., vehicles shall be parked only on even-numbered sides of the streets on those nights with an even calendar date, and on odd-numbered sides of the streets with an odd calendar date. Where parking is normally permitted only on one side of the street, vehicles may be parked on that permitted side every night. NOTE: On-street parking around the college and universities is often congested. Consider alternatives such as buses, car-pooling, bicycling, or walking.
MTU U-PASS FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
The La Crosse U-PASS program includes unlimited access to any Municipal Transit Utility (MTU) bus anytime, anywhere! Just show your UW-L, Viterbo, or WTC student ID card to the bus driver and you are ready to go anywhere you would like.
THE SAFE RIDE BUS
The Safe Ride bus offers a safe ride between downtown and campus on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights during fall and spring semesters, excluding some holidays and spring break times. There are stops on and off campus, around town, and downtown, which are marked with a maroon and silver Safe Ride bus sign. Students and friends ride free on the Safe Ride bus. No student ID’s are required. Service every 15 minutes Thursday 10:00 P.M. – 3:00 A.M. Friday and Saturday 9:00 P.M. – 3:00 A.M.
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
Age: You must be 21 years of age to purchase, consume, or possess beer or liquor in the state of Wisconsin.
If you drink, don’t drive. Use a designated driver who hasn’t consumed any alcoholic beverages, and, for your safety, stay with your friends and never wander off alone after drinking.
FURNISHING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE
It shall be unlawful to sell, vend or in any way deal or traffic in intoxicating liquors in any quantity whatsoever to or with an underage person, or to any person intoxicated or bordering on a state of intoxication.
PUBLIC CONSUMPTION
No person shall consume any intoxicating liquor or fermented malt beverage while in or upon any public street, alley, sidewalk, or other public way.

If you have information on any crime, which has been committed or is about to be committed, you can call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at (608) 784-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-947-3577, and give the information. You can remain anonymous. If your tip results in an arrest, you are eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00.
NEIGHBORHOOD QUIET ZONES
The "Loud Noise Prohibited" ordinance applies to Residential Neighborhood Quiet Zones, as established by the Common Council, between the hours of 10:30 P.M. and 6:00 A.M.
LOUD NOISE PROHIBITED
It shall be unlawful for any person to create, assist in creating, permit, continue, or permit the continuance of any unreasonably loud, disturbing or unnecessary noise in the City, such as produces annoyance, inconvenience, discomfort, or hurt to any person, or to the enjoyment of property or comfort of any person, or affects the safety, health, or morals of the public.
