The City of La Crosse is seeking a Law Clerk to work within its Legal Department during the Summer of 2018.

This position assists with all aspects of the Legal Department.  Job duties include legal research, writing and analysis of municipal law matters such as public records, contracts, zoning, eminent domain, legislation, ordinances, and licensing.  Duties also include assisting city staff and the public, representing the Legal Department at meetings, drafting correspondence, legal documents and general office duties.  This position requires a high degree of confidentiality and documentation.

Applicants should be in good academic standing at an accredited law school.  Successful candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong public speaking skills and the ability to analyze and present legal opinions.  Successful candidates must also be able to maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines and utilize legal resources.
