The La Crosse Police Honor Guard is a specialized team of the La Crosse Police Department that attends special professional and/or law enforcement events, as well as funeral services for law enforcement members. The Honor Guard is always ready to represent our Department under the most difficult of circumstances.
The Honor Guard is led by the Officer In Charge who oversees the Rifle Team and Colors Team, consisting of seven officers each, who make up the Honor Guard as a whole.
Throughout a typical year, the Honor Guard attends several regular events such as the Police Memorial Ceremony and Police Week Award Ceremony in May, the 9/11 Freedom Walk in September, Law Enforcement Academy graduations, as well as unexpected events such as funerals or memorial ceremonies.
To ensure the highest level of professionalism, the Honor Guard trains throughout the year on basic drill and ceremony, rifle details, and the posting of colors. They also attend at least one joint training event with the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard Team.
