K-9 Luc

Specialization: Narcotics Detection, Tracking & Apprehension, Protection

During the spring of 2016, the La Crosse Police Department sought a new K-9 team - a handler and canine - to replace the retiring K-9 Ralph.  With several well-qualified candidates identified, Officer Dakota Jelinski was selected for the position.  The Department eventually decided on Luc, an AKC German Shepherd from Germany.

Officer Jelinski and K-9 Luc serve on night shift patrol and are annually certified by the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA).
