La Crosse, Wisconsin, sits in the midst of the magnificent Mississippi River to the West, and the beautiful bluffs to the East. La Crosse has beautiful landscapes, remarkable hospitality, and above all else, a thriving and engaging community. To continue to make La Crosse a great place to live, the City is launching an Age-Friendly Survey to engage residents of all ages, to listen to their needs and concerns in order to learn what people are looking for from their community as they age.

“A ‘livable community’ is defined as a community that is safe and secure, has affordable and appropriate housing and transportation options, and offers supportive community features and services. In a livable age-friendly community, people of all ages can go for a walk, safely cross the street, ride a bike, get around without a car, live comfortably, work or volunteer, enjoy public places, socialize, spend time outdoors, be entertained, go shopping, buy healthy food, find the services they need, and make their city, town, or neighborhood a lifelong home” (AARP Research).

It's imperative for everyone to get involved. The Age-Friendly Survey is your opportunity to share your goals, hopes and dreams for life in the City of La Crosse. It will help the City address the opportunities and services as the population ages. We all win when our streets are safer, when everyone enjoys ease of access to transportation and services, and when we all feel safe and supported in our homes and neighborhoods.

The Age-Friendly Survey will enable local officials and residents to work together to enhance the civic, economic, and social life for all residents. From babies to baby boomers and beyond, we all benefit when the places we live are designed for the rest of our lives. When a community is aging friendly, it is everybody friendly.
