The Community Development and Housing programs help revitalize the City’s neighborhoods, address income inequality in the City, and improve the quality of the City’s housing. The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) staff also manages a number of federal programs including the Housing Rehabilitation Program, the Replacement Housing Program, and the Commercial Rehabilitation Program. COVID-19 has not hindered the U.S. Census Bureau’s ability to launch the 2020 Census. In fact, the 2020 Census is well underway.

City of La Crosse Residents - starting March 12, 2020, every household in the U.S. began to receive the U.S. Census Bureau’s invitation letter to participate in the 2020 Census with specific instructions on how to be counted. Please self-respond to the 2020 Census online, by phone, or by mail.  Not only is it easy but your participation in being counted can impact representation and funding for our local schools, healthcare services, roads and highways, food assistance programs, disaster relief services, and other community resources for the next 10 years!
