The Community Development and Housing programs help revitalize the City’s neighborhoods, address income inequality in the City, and improve the quality of the City’s housing. The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) staff also manages a number of federal programs including the Housing Rehabilitation Program, the Replacement Housing Program, and the Commercial Rehabilitation Program. The City of La Crosse anticipates receiving $518,988 in new Community Development Block Grant funding to address the negative impact of Covid-19 in our Community. We will be amending our Consolidated Plan and are currently considering the following programs to address the community's needs:

  1. Small Business Relief Grants
  2. Child Care Center Grants 
  3. Funding to address homelessness needs 
  4. Expanded community gardens
