Drug and Gun Ring Broken Up

The Juneau County Sheriff’s Office, over the past 2 months, had been investigating a series of residential burglaries where guns had been stolen. Their investigation led them to a suspect who indicated that he was exchanging the stolen guns for drugs from a residence in La Crosse: 1421 Stoddard Street. Upon Juneau County Sheriff’s Office contacting the La Crosse Police Department, it was determined the residence in La Crosse was the focus of an ongoing drug investigation. Based on the information from the Juneau Country Sheriff’s Office and the ongoing investigation that La Crosse Police had, a search warrant was granted.

Early this morning (May 12th) the La Crosse Police Emergency Response Team along with Investigators executed the search warrant at 1421 Stoddard Street. While executing the search warrant, 3 people were taken into custody without incident: Derrick L. Engen (DOB 06-06-1981), Darren A. Engen (DOB 04-22-1985) and Rachel N. Brockway (DOB 01-06-1997), all from La Crosse. A search of the residence revealed $3411.00 in cash, 136 grams of methamphetamine with a street value of about $4000, 12.5 of suspected heroin/fentanyl with a street value of $1000, a variety of prescription medications, 12 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, a 9mm handgun, a ballistic vest and stolen property out of Juneau and La Crosse Counties. 

The following criminal charges were referred to the La Crosse County District Attorney’s Office:

Derrick L. Engen: 

  • Felon in Possession of Firearm
  • Possession of Body Armor by Convicted Violent Felon
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Psilocin
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Narcotics
  • Receiving Stolen Property
  • Maintain a Drug Trafficking Place

Darren E. Engen:

  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Psilocin
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Narcotics
  • Receiving Stolen Property

Rachel N. Brockway:

  • Maintain a Drug Trafficking Place
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Psilocin
  • Felon in Possession of Firearm
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office and Town of Campbell Police also assisted with the incident.  

NOTE: All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
