On Tuesday, December 16^th, 2025, Matthew R. Sierra (08/16/1987) was arrested in connection with the death of Alexis K. Pickett (02/05/1998) and her unborn child. Ms. Pickett was discovered deceased in her home after the La Crosse Fire Department responded to a residential fire on November 13^th, 2025.

This remains an open investigation and Mr. Sierra is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

City of La Crosse Police Chief Shawn Kudron stated, “This has been a very diligent, comprehensive, and strategic investigation in collaboration with the La Crosse Fire Department and the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation and the Wisconsin State Fire Marshal’s Office.  Our thoughts continue to be with the Pickett family.”
