Winter Recreation Path Established

The City of La Crosse Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department has established a winter recreation path that will be maintained as an option for those in the community wishing to remain active outdoors during the Winter. The new path, named Wintertide Loop, connects the Jim Asfoor Trail with the Vietnam Veterans Trail, and features an updated blacktop surface, as well as scenic views of the La Crosse River and the Riverside Park International Friendship Gardens.

Beginning in the Riverside Park International Friendship Gardens, Wintertide Loop will take users north onto the Jim Asfoor Trail to Monitor Street. Heading northwest on Monitor Street towards Lang Drive, users will turn right onto the bridge at Lang Drive. Remaining on the southwest side of the bridge, users will connect onto the Vietnam Veterans Trail and continue south, finishing back into the Riverside Park International Friendship Gardens. Wintertide Loop will receive snow removal attention and various winter care as needed throughout the winter months and will be maintained with the department’s highest priority. Please keep in mind that a major snow event that requires full plow operation throughout the City may delay the service to the path.
