Notice of Designation of Historic Structure
Multi-gable one-story roofed park shelter with flat arched windows, large service doors, and outside stone wall chimney. Rear cement block addition. Constructed under the WPA program of local stone, this structure is a significant example of 20th century stone construction in La Crosse, of which there are but a few complete buildings. The Myrick Park Shelter represents the activities of government agencies to improve the quality of life regarding parks and to employ people during the Great Depression of the 1930s. Stone from Miller's bluff; WPA labor used for construction. Cost of Project: $13,000.
