If you disagree with the determination of the City Assessor, the final municipal review of assessments is the Board of Review. The Board of Review is a quasi-judicial body comprised of five appointed City residents who hear the cases and make final determinations on value.
Municipal Boards of Review must meet:
- annually
- anytime during the 45-day period beginning on the 4th Monday in April
The Board of Review will meet on the June 11, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. for the purpose of calling the Board of Review into session during the forty-five day period beginning on the 4th Monday of April, pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 70.47(1). Due to the fact the assessment roll will not be completed at this time, the Board of Review will be adjourned until its first meeting on July 17, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
The City of La Crosse is completing a revaluation of property assessments for the 2025 assessment year. Revaluation notices are expected to be sent to property owners in June 2025.
OPEN BOOK. Open Book will be held June 23 through July 9, 2025 between the hours 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. If you wish to discuss your assessment, contact the Assessor's office by calling 608-789-7525 or emailing assessor@cityoflacrosse.org.
BOARD OF REVIEW - first meeting. The City of La Crosse first two-hour (minimum) meeting of the Board of Review is scheduled for July 17, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
The initial Board of Review meeting is the first meeting of the year where business is addressed and must be in session at least two hours. After this first meeting, the Board may then adjourn at its own discretion from time to time, until its business is completed. Anyone appearing before the Board of Review must file a Notice of Intent and/or Objection Form for real property no less than 48 hours before the first meeting of the Board of Review. The 48-hour deadline is July 15th at 10:00 a.m.
