La Crosse Parks & Recreation Application

Youth Sport Coaches

If you believe that participation in sports plays an integral role in the development of a child's character, confidence, and social skills this could be an excellent opportunity for you.  The hours are flexible (typically, evenings and weekends).  This is the perfect opportunity for teachers (or aspiring teachers), coaches, and college students with a sports background, or for anyone who would like to impact the lives of children and has a knowledge of sports.  We are currently looking for coaches for all seasons in this area.  If interested, please submit an application to La Crosse Parks and Recreation, 400 La Crosse St, La Crosse, WI 54601 or email questions to Jared.  Applications are accepted until positions are filled.
Programs include:  Youth Track, Youth Soccer, Middle School Volleyball (Mid March - Mid May)

Special Olympics Coaches

Outgoing individuals needed to coach various Special Olympics Sports (see sports below).  Coaches are required to attend practices two or three times a week as well as chaperone at all scrimmages and tournaments during the season.  No experience needed, but recommend general knowledge of the sport coaching.  Must be able to work with volunteers and experience working with individuals with special needs is preferred.  If interested, please submit an application at the Black River Beach Neighborhood Center, Attention Kat, 1433 Rose Street, La Crosse, WI 54603 or email questions or applications to Kat. Aquatics Coordinator 

The La Crosse Parks, Recreation & Forestry is seeking an energetic, hands on professional with background in Aquatics to fill the position of Aquatic Coordinator. The purpose of this position is to ensure and maintain the safety of the staff and the general public. This position manages the day-to-day administrative and staffing functions of three public swimming pools and two beaches. They help develop and implement programs and activities to sustain the financial viability of the aquatics program. Finally, this position is responsible for assisting with guests, operations, monitoring expenses/revenues, and assisting the Aquatics Manager.

Head Lifeguard

The La Crosse Parks, Recreation & Forestry is seeking  energetic, hands on professionals with background in Aquatics to fill the positions of Head Lifeguard. The purpose of this position is to ensure and maintain aquatics safety and supervision for staff and patrons. This position trains staff on safety procedures, emergency rescue skills, administering first aid, CPR and AED. Performs all required lifeguard-training skills as needed, inspects and maintains swimming and pool equipment for functionality, ensures proper placement and availability in the pool area, and recommends maintenance and repair as needed.

Lifeguard

The La Crosse Parks, Recreation & Forestry is seeking  energetic, hands on professionals to fill the positions of lifeguard at City aquatic facilities! The purpose of this position is to ensure and maintain aquatics safety and supervision for patrons and cautions patrons regarding unsafe activities; monitors activities in the water, pool decks, and ancillary areas of the aquatics facilities to ensure the safety of patrons; and, explains and enforces safe swimming programs and pool policies, regulations and rules. Rescues patrons and administers first aid, CPR and AED as needed. Performs all required lifeguard-training skills as needed, inspects and maintains swimming and pool equipment for functionality, ensures proper placement and availability in the pool area, and recommends maintenance and repair as needed. Incumbent must assist and aid in swim lesson programs under the direction of aquatic management.

Pool Attendant 

The La Crosse Parks, Recreation & Forestry is seeking  energetic, hands on professionals to fill the positions of Pool Attendant at City aquatic facilities! The purpose of this position is to ensure and maintain the safety of the staff and the general public. The Pool Attendant is responsible for maintaining an efficient concession/front desk operation, including courteous and accurate customer service, a clean, neat work area, consistent inventory levels and accurately cash counts.
