Join fellow crafters for a weekend of crafting fun.  All types of crafters are welcome including sewers, beaders, knitters, stampers and scrapbookers.  This is a great opportunity to start a new project or finish one!  Each participant will have their own 6-foot table and chair.  Please plan on your own for meals.  We have a fridge and microwave, but no stove/oven.

Do you have drawers, binders, closets and shelves full of card making and scrapbooking supplies?  Well, let me help you use those same products to create new works of art without purchasing new items.  Art Journaling is a hot new form of expression art that is sweeping the internet and online chats.  In session 1, join us for a basic informational class to start where you will create samples of several techniques.  Then in session 2 we will be putting them all together to create a fun work of art.  *For session 2, please bring your choice of Art Journal to create in.  We will be discussing Art Journal styles in session 1.  **Pictures are just examples, not the actual projects being completed.  My name is Lisa Thill and I have been a resident of La Crosse for 50+ years.  My passion in life has become crafting and I am sharing my love of Mixed Media with you.  I have heard that art, in any form, can change lives.  It gives us time to reboot, relieve stress, and discover new talents in ourselves.  Please join me in these fun classes and let yourself go.

Join Judy, a Stampin’ Up!© demonstrator, for Card Creations.  All the materials will be provided for you to make and take six greeting cards.  Please bring adhesive or double-sided tape and a scissors.  Allow 45-90 minutes to complete your cards.  You can start as early as 12:00pm and must be finished by 7:00pm.

Join instructor, William Eddy, in a discussion and exercise of the elements of drawing.  After drawing in class, a discussion will take place regarding creativity, line, space and approach.  Materials needed: Drawing pad at least 18”x24”, soft crayon, drawing pencils, charcoal, CONTE crayon and a Sharpie.

Creative Acrylic Painting with Confident Color

Acrylic is the newest of all the mediums having been invented in the middle of the 20th century.  Come and learn about the tools and materials used to complete a painting.  In the first part of this series we will explore color, color mixing and experimenting with how color works.  Bring in your own supplies and we will review color and its application to produce your still life pictures.  You will need canvas, brushes, paints and other materials to execute your finished pictures over the two-hour sessions.

Crafters & Quilters Shopping Bus Trip

Calling all crafters and quilters!  We will be taking a day trip to do some shopping.  First stop will be at Gruber’s Quilt Shop – Minnesota’s ultimate quilting destination filled with fabrics, patterns, yarns, thread, quilting and knitting notions, kits, books and gifts.  After a couple hours of shopping we will have lunch at Gruber’s Café (included).  We will then spend a couple of hours shopping at Crafts Direct – over 40,000 square feet of retail craft merchandise.  The bus will leave at 6:00am from the Black River Beach Neighborhood Center and will return at approximately 7:00pm.

Art Club

Knitting Group

$1 per person, per week   |   Ages 16+
Join other knitting enthusiasts each week.  This is a great opportunity to show off your creations or help each other as needed.  Check in at the front desk each week.  Please bring your own knitting supplies.

Drawing Part 1

If you have not drawn for a while, or if you need a refresher, come join us in this two-part class.  William Eddy will guide you in mastering linear perspective; the pathway of sight.  You will also be introduced to the types and characteristics of line.  We will cover drawing materials and surfaces.  In the second part of the class, you will concentrate on gesture drawing, contour drawing, cross contour drawing and weight drawing.  The structured exercises will provide a meaningful experience for beginners or a refresher for the advanced student.  Materials needed: Drawing pad at least 18”x24”, soft crayon, drawing pencils, charcoal, CONTE crayon and a Sharpie.

Dare to Paint Abstracts

Develop your creative skills using your acrylic paints and study the primary and secondary picture elements.  Realize you are able to create something unique entirely by yourself.  William Eddy will assist you in developing your sense of movement, design, balance, harmony, contrast and space.

Watercolor Workshop

Watercolor is the most popular of all painting media.  Even when professionals specialize in other media, you would be hard pressed to find one that does not use watercolor from time to time.  Join Mary Lou Ferguson and William Eddy to discuss watercolor fundamentals and techniques.  During each of the eight weeks there will be a painting demonstration.  Bring your own supplies which should include 140 pound watercolor paper, brushes, watercolor paints and watercolor container.
