Senior Excursions are popular day trips for anyone ages 50+.  Pre-registration is required, space is limited and payment is required at the time of registration.  See Department and Refund Policies here and Senior Excursion Policies here.

We will begin our day at the historic Villa Louis with a baking demonstration and tea on the veranda.  In addition, we will have an opportunity to tour part of the home.  We will travel to McGregor, IA for lunch on your own before heading to Marquette, IA, for a Mississippi River Cruise on the Maiden Voyage Tour Boat.  We will return to La Crosse at approximately 6:00pm.  *Bus Pick-Up:  Sam’s Club: 8:15am   SSNC: 8:30am

We will start our tour with lunch at the historic Baker House.  This nationally registered historic property, with panoramic views of Geneva Lake and English-style gardens, puts the Baker House in a class all by itself.  Enjoy true Gilded Age living with dramatically designed parlors, accented with antique lace, ornate working fireplaces and crystal chandeliers.  After lunch we will take a narrated cruise on beautiful Geneva Lake.  The boat tour will include the eastern half of the lake and many famous, historic estates.  Lunch is included in the price.  We will return to La Crosse at approximately 7:30pm.  *Bus Pick-Up:  SSNC: 7:00am    Sam’s Club: 7:15am

NORTH FREEDOM TRAIN RIDE AND TOUR OF AL RINGLING THEATER

Take a memorable, seven-mile, 55-minute round-trip train ride on a former branch line of the Chicago & North Western Railway nestled in a valley between the Baraboo Hills in rural Sauk County.  Passengers ride in restored steel coaches built a century ago.  An authentically-attired conductor will call “all aboard!” before the train leaves from a historic wooden depot, built in 1894.  Their Coach Shed is filled with restored wooden passenger cars, freight cars and displays from the turn of the century.  Built in less than a year in 1915 in Baraboo, WI, the Al Ringling Theatre was a gift for the city from the eldest of the famous Ringling Brothers.  The elaborate 16,325 square foot, oval-shaped theater is adorned with ornate features such a domed ceiling with a cloud painting, a series of historic murals, velvet draperies and a rare fire curtain with a hand-painted mural.  We will have a guided tour of this spectacular theater.  Lunch is on your own in Baraboo.  We will return to La Crosse at approximately 6:00pm.  *Bus Pick-Up:  SSNC: 8:00am   Sam’s Club: 8:15am

In this installment of The Church Basement Ladies series, the year is 1960 and a reformation is underway.  Beverly gets her first pair of high heels for confirmation.  Mrs. Snustad wins top honors at the County Fair for her Grand Champion pickles.  Mavis must find a way to deal with the new Super Highway that cuts through her farm.  Karin finds freedom behind the wheel of her husband’s pickup truck.  And Pastor has found new love and announces his impending nuptials.  Against the changing tide, these “bulwarks never failing” stand strong in their faith and in their friendships with more crazy antics, more great songs and more lessons reluctantly learned.  Price included lunch.  We will return to La Crosse at approximately 8:00pm.  *Bus Pick-Up:  SSNC: 7:00am   Sam’s Club: 7:15am

Back by popular demand!  The greatest supergroup in country music history, the original Highwaymen, formed in 1985, consisted of Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash.  This recreation (with Willie, Waylon and Johnny) of that amazing, never to be seen again band, continues the legacy.  You will witness first-hand the friendship and comradery that existed between these legends, reliving one of the greatest moments in country music history.  Combining their unique approaches to life and recording, they traveled the world performing country music to millions of fans.  We will return to La Crosse at approximately 6:00pm.  *Bus Pick-Up:  SSNC: 9:15am   Sam’s Club: 9:30am
