This 2009 Canadian documentary film, directed by Cree filmmakers Neil Diamond, Catherine Bainbridge and Jeremiah Hayes, explores the portrayal of Native Americans in film. Reel Injun is illustrated with excerpts from classic and contemporary portrayals of Native people in Hollywood movies and interviews with filmmakers, actors and film historians, while director Diamond travels across the United States to visit iconic locations in motion picture as well as American Indian history.

American Native is a story of identity and the importance that race plays in determining cultural heritage. What began as a film about a misunderstood community that has existed in the mountains outside of New York City for three centuries, has evolved into a quintessentially American story that examines the political, academic and social definitions of the term Native American.

On June 26, 1975, during a period of high tensions on the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota, two FBI agents were killed in a shootout with a group of Indians.  Although several men were charged with killing the agents, only one, Leonard Peltier, was found guilty.  This film describes the events surrounding the shootout and suggests that Peltier was unjustly convicted.

The Last Bridge Home is an award winning movie made in the La Crosse area with local actor Steve Kiedrowski.  Steve will introduce the film and talk about the making of the movie.  Steve will also discuss tips for memorizing lines and the importance of muscle memory in acting and everyday life.  A question and answer discussion will be held before and after the film.
