City Pools Open Today for the Summer 2026 Season

La Crosse, WI — The City of La Crosse Parks, Recreation, and Forestry department announced today that both Erickson and Veterans Memorial Pool are officially open for the Summer 2026 season.

“We are happy to welcome our community back to our pools,” said Deputy Director of Recreation Jared Flick. “The summer is a busy and exciting time for the Parks department. We have a myriad of programs and activities for residents of all ages to enjoy, and we encourage you to join in on the fun.”

Youth and adult tennis and pickleball programs will also begin on Monday. Classes start at 9 a.m. These programs teach the fundamentals of tennis with an emphasis on learning a variety of skills and positions, as well as introduce pickleball to beginners. Register for youth programs or adult lessons. 

Recreation Coordinator Hunter Elsen said that there was still time to sign up for Nature Day Camp and the Weigent Playground Program, with both starting on Monday, June 8. He encouraged residents to register at https://bit.ly/3PtzYbq on or before Friday, June 12.

“Nature Day Camp allows the city’s youth to experience archery, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, disc golf, and so much more,” he stated. “Our Playground Program is just as engaging. Children get to go outside, and be entertained through games, crafts, and fitness activities. The program also includes field trips, pool visits, and the list goes on.”

Residents were also reminded that equipment rentals were now available at Pettibone Park. Kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards are rented daily from 12-8 p.m., depending on weather conditions. Visit https://www.cityoflacrosse.org/waterrecreation for rates and more information.
