"Ride with the Mayor" Friday to Explore City's Bike Infrastructure

LA CROSSE, WI — The City of La Crosse will host “Ride with the Mayor: Over the Bridge and to La Crescent,” a community bike ride from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 12. This free event is open to the public and is an opportunity to explore and discuss active transportation, safety, and infrastructure issues within the city.
The ride will begin and end at City Hall, 400 La Crosse Street, and follow a roughly six-mile loop, at an easy pace, to Sportsmen’s Landing Boat Ramp. Remarks will be delivered at the start of the event, with remarks by La Crescent Mayor Mike Poellinger at 10 a.m. at Sportsmen’s Landing.
Led by community advocate Andrew Ericson, La Crosse Mayor Shaundel Washington-Spivey, local elected officials, and community leaders will join participants, making periodic stops along the route to discuss progress, challenges, and areas of concern. Stops include 2nd Street, Pearl Street, Wisconsin Highway 53, the future Wagon Wheel Trail, and King Street.

This annual event is organized with the support of the City of La Crosse Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee, chaired by Council Member Larry Sleznikow.
