LA CROSSE, WI – The City of La Crosse is pleased to announce that the King Street Greenway Extension has received $805,713.35 in federal funding through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Transportation Alternatives Program. This award marks an important step forward in the City’s efforts to create a safer, more connected, and accessible transportation network.

“The project is expected to be constructed between 2029 and 2030, and will provide long-term benefits for residents, businesses and visitors,” said Associate Planner Jenna Dinkel. “We are excited to provide improved transportation choices and strengthen connections between key areas of the community.”

The WisDOT investment will help advance improvements along the King Street corridor from Third through Seventh streets, supporting a vision that better connects neighborhoods, attractions and multimodal options for people of all ages and abilities.

Improvements will include safer intersection crossings, curb extensions, and additional green infrastructure.
