New home at 2010 14th Street
LA CROSSE, WI — The City of La Crosse Department of Planning and Development has completed the latest home through its Replacement Housing Program. The property located at 2010 14th Street will be on the market until July 15.
“This is an exciting opportunity because mortgage assistance is available for residents who complete an application and meet income qualifications,” stated Community Development Manager Mara Keyes. “With our support, the homeowner is only taking out a mortgage for about 55% of the cost of the home.”
To purchase a Replacement Housing home, applicants must earn below 80 percent of the median county income and qualify for a conventional 30-year mortgage. Please apply here: https://bit.ly/4esOQR2.
The City’s Replacement Housing Program creates new, affordable, owner-occupied, single-family homes. Please visit http://www.cityoflacrosse.org/replacementhousing for more information on this program.
“The impact of this program reaches well beyond the newly constructed homes and making housing available to low-moderate income households,” said Neighborhood Housing Development Coordinator Jonah Denson. “We continue to improve La Crosse’s aging housing stock, provide hands-on training for crucial trade careers, and positively impact the city’s economy by hiring local subcontractors.”
The Replacement Housing Program is funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The City utilizes Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to acquire and demolish lots within La Crosse and HOME Investment Partnership funds for construction. While acting as General Contractor, the City provides on-site job training opportunities for Western Technical College and Central High School students who partner with subcontractors and donate their time to construct the new homes. Through this program, the City of La Crosse sells two to three homes per year.
