City is Committed to Public Meeting Access Despite F&P Disruption

LA CROSSE WI — Today, August 6, during the scheduled Finance & Personnel Committee meeting, an unidentified individual joined the livestream and shared inappropriate audio and visual content.

“It is important for us to provide a virtual option to our residents,” said Information Technology Director Jacky Greschner. “Unfortunately, this is the potential risk for granting public access.”

City staff immediately halted the Zoom meeting to remove the unauthorized participant. City leadership has reported the incident to the platform for formal investigation, as well as to the police department. This is an active investigation. 

The City will continue to work on viable, alternative virtual options.
