Coordinated Investigation Leads to Arrest in Main Street Arson Case

On Saturday, September 5, 2026, the La Crosse Police Department assisted the La Crosse Fire Department in an active investigation regarding an early morning fire that occurred in the 300 block of Main Street.

Through close collaboration, immediate resource sharing, and the downtown cameras, investigators identified a suspect. Cortney A. Halverson (11/29/91) was taken into custody and arrested for Arson of a Building without the Owner’s Consent and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping. She is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
