On May 15, 2026, La Crosse Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of 16th Street South. Upon arrival, officers found a victim with multiple stab wounds. La Crosse Police identified Ivan Canchola-Garcia (02/07/1998) as a suspect in this case and determined this to be an isolated case. Canchola-Garcia was arrested in Whitestown Indiana on outstanding warrants from Dane County Wisconsin.

La Crosse Firefighters Respond to Weekend House Fire

The La Crosse Fire Department responded to a residential fire on the 1000 block of 5th Avenue just before noon this weekend. Crews arrived within minutes to find smoke and fire in the basement area of the home. All residents safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. The fire was quickly contained, and investigators determined the cause to be electrical in nature.
