La Crosse MTU provides safe and convenient public transportation services to the La Crosse area. Our service area currently includes La Crosse, French Island, a portion of Onalaska, and La Crescent, Minnesota. The service is owned and operated by the City of La Crosse with financial support from the communities we serve.
Our bus routes consist of 8 fixed-routes and 2 flex-routes offering transportation throughout the area, with most routes operating seven days a week.
Specialized or Para-transit service is available for individuals unable to use fixed route buses. This specialized service, called MTU Mobility Plus, is under contract to a private provider and is only available to individuals certified as ADA Para-transit eligible.

SPECIALIZED TRANSPORTATION RFP JANUARY 2027 - DECEMBER 2031
Notice is hereby given that the La Crosse Municipal Transit Utility in conjunction with La Crosse County Human Services Aging and Disability Resource Center will be accepting Letters of Interest for the provision of urban and rural Specialized Transportation Services for the period of January 2027 through December 2031.
The purpose of these services is to provide ADA Paratransit Service for the La Crosse Municipal Transit Utility, Specialized Transportation Services for La Crosse County Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) for seniors and individuals with disabilities. The service area will include the La Crosse urbanized area, and rural La Crosse County including Galesville, Stoddard and Trempealeau areas. The City of La Crescent MN for (ADRC) Members only.

There will be a mandatory pre-proposal conference held at La Crosse MTU, 2000 Marco Dr, La Crosse, WI in Municipal Service Center Conference Room on September 08, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. This meeting will also be available virtually through Zoom.
