Street Lighting & Traffic Signals

Lights on wooden poles are typically found in residential areas and alleys and are the property of Xcel Energy. You may submit a request for service on wooden poles to Xcel Energy's website or call them at (800) 895-4999.

Decorative lights on black metal poles can be reported to the Street Department at (608) 789-7340, option 2. Some of those may be maintained by the County, but calls will be directed accordingly.

Depending on the issue, traffic signals may be the responsibility of Engineering or Street Dept or handled by DOT. Emergencies should be reported to Police Dispatch at (608) 782-7575. General maintenance concerns such as a lightbulb out should be reported to the Street Department, (608) 789-7340, option 4. Issues with timing or traffic flow, should be directed to Engineering Department, (608) 789-7505, option 2.
