The La Crosse Police Department has a Prescription Drug Drop-off Box available in the Police Department lobby during normal business hours of 8:30AM - 5:00PM, Monday through Friday (except holidays).
Anyone wishing to dispose of unused, unwanted, or expired prescription or over-the-counter drugs is welcome to use the Drug Drop-off Box during this time and can do so anonymously (no need to check in with administrative staff).
We accept all prescription medications in pill and patch form - please do not bring liquids or drug paraphernalia. We also have a "sharps" container available for needles and syringes.
You can leave the medication in the original container, or if you are able, we prefer them to be removed from the original packaging and placed together in one package (Ziploc bag, box, plastic container, etc.).

Check with your local law enforcement agency to determine the availability of these drug drop boxes. La Crosse area hospitals also have drug collection containers. Please contact hospitals to determine exact locations and availability.
Lost or stolen bicycles recovered by the Police Department are stored by the Property & Evidence Division in the Police Impound Building, also known as the "Bike Barn". The bike barn is located on Isle la Plume at 1925 Marco Drive, La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Citizens have the opportunity to look for their lost or stolen bike(s) during open bike barn hours from 4:30PM - 6:00PM on the first Wednesday of each month, April through October. The Property and Evidence Division may be contacted at (608) 789-7245 for alternate viewing arrangements. Bicycles recovered by the La Crosse police Department are held for 90 days before they are released to the bi-annual city bike barn auction.
To claim a bicycle, you must have a copy of your previously submitted police report or proof of ownership. In many cases, you can fill out this report online following these guidelines:
- If your bike is stolen and is valued under $2,500, you can Submit a Police Report online.
- If your bike is stolen and is valued over $2,500, call our non-emergency police line at (608) 785-5962, or come to the Police Department to speak with an Officer.
Also, City of La Crosse Ordinance 44-222 requires that bicycles ridden in the City of La Crosse must be registered and licensed. Registration is FREE, and you can register your bicycle online or at the Police Department. You will need the make, model, serial number and color of the bicycle. The Spring Auction has been scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the Bike Barn on Isle la Plume. Viewing will begin at 9AM and the auction at 10AM.
