Detours
Attention Route 1 riders,
Starting Monday 9/28/26 Losey Blvd between Fiesta Court and Mormon Coulee Road will be closed to traffic. The 1 South Ave buses will be turning left on Mormon Coulee, right on Birch, and Left into Shelby Mall. Route 1 Downtown will be turning right on Birch, from East Avenue, left on Mormon Coulee, then right on Losey and back on route.
Route #4 is back on regular Route
The detour around UW-L has ended. We are back to our regular route.
Maple Leaf Parade Downtown Route Detours
From the beginning of service on Saturday September 26, 2026, until approximately 3:40PM routes 4 and 6 will be detouring. The Route 4 bus stops on 7th St between State St and La Crosse St and La Crosse St to West Ave will be closed. Route 4 Losey Blvd will use State St eastbound to West Ave and West Ave north to La Crosse St and resume the route. Route 4 Downtown will use 13th St to State St and State St to 5th Ave to resume the route. Route 6 Northside will use State St to West Ave and West Ave to Gillette St and resume the route. Route 6 Downtown will use George St to Cass St and Cass St to the transit center. No bus stop closed signs will be put up.
Attention Route 6 Passengers !! Torchlight Parade Detour
On Thursday September 24th beginning at 5:40pm until 8:40pm the Route 6 Northside bus and the Route 6 Downtown bus will be using the following detours due to the Torchlight Parade: Route 6 Northside bus turn east on Monitor Street to Lang Drive north to Ranger Drive then continue on route at Onalaska and Gillette. Route 6 Downtown will use Ranger Drive to George Street, George Street to Monitor Street, Monitor Street to Rose Street, Rose to Car Street, Car Street to Copeland Avenue and resume the route.

The “Valley View Mall Extra Bus” that runs on weekday evenings 6:10 p.m.–10:10 p.m., Saturday 12:10 p.m.–7:10 p.m., and Sundays 2:10 p.m.–6:10 p.m. will begin again Saturday, September 5, 2026. If you have any questions, please ask your driver or contact MTU at 608-789-7350.

Attention Route 5 and Route 8 riders!
Starting Monday 8/17/26, Gillette Street from Ranger Drive to River Valley Drive will be closed to vehicle traffic.
Route 5 All the stops north of St. Cloud Street on George Street will be closed. Any stops east of George Street on Gillette will be closed for the Route 5 and Route 8.
Route 8 All the stops from Clinton and Caledonia to River Valley Drive, in both directions, will be closed. Temporary stops will be placed at Liberty and Clinton and at Kane and Clinton Streets.
Attention Route 5 Passengers
At the beginning of service on Wednesday, August 5, through Friday, August 14 the intersection of Hwy 16 and Gillette St will be closed for road construction. Route 5 will go through the industrial park to get to the mall and back.
The bus stops on Hwy 16 will be closed and the bus stop at Office Depot will be demand response during this time. If you have any questions, please ask your driver or call MTU at 608-789-7350.
Attention Circulator riders and Route 5 riders!
Starting Monday July 27, 2026, 6th and Main Streets will be closed to bus traffic.
For all three routes we be using 7th Street during this detour.
We will have temporary stops located at 7th and Main Street for all three buses.
Route 5 riders, you can also catch the 5, heading downtown, on 7th Street south of King Street during this detour.
Attention Route 6 Riders!
Starting Monday July 13, 2026, Liberty Street will be closed from Sabor Manor, (Windsor Street) to Clinton Street for road construction.
Please use bus stops at St. Paul Street and Caledonia Street, Caledonia Street and Wall Street.
Or the temporary bus stops at Windsor Street and Avon Street during this time
Notice to all Route #4 Passengers
At the beginning of service on Friday, June 5 for the next several weeks, MTU buses will not be going through U.W. La Crosse campus due to construction on campus.
The following bus stops will be closed:
- La Crosse Street by Coate Hall
- La Crosse Street and 16th Street North
- East Avenue by the Alumni Center
- East Avenue by Sanford Hall
- 2 stops at East Avenue and Pine Street
- 2 stops at Pine Street and Campbell Road
- Campbell Road and State Street
- State Street near Roncalli Newman Center
- State and 17th Street N.
- 2 Stops on 17the Street North between State Street and Main Street
You will be able to catch the bus at the stops on 13th Street, and on the stops on Main Street.
Attention Route 2 Downtown riders
33rd Street between Meadow Lane Place and Park Lane Drive will be closed to bus traffic starting 5/21/26.
Please use the bus stops at 33rd Street and either Meadow Lane Place, or 33rd and Park Lane drive during this time.
