The City of La Crosse will be closed for business on Monday, September 7, 2026 in observance of Labor Day. City Hall and other municipal offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
The Wagon Wheel Trail project will be connecting City of La Crosse historic Downtown to the City of La Crescent, Minnesota and beyond.
The proposed action consists of constructing a shared-use path along the north side of US 14/61. The length would be approximately 1-mile starting at the Sportsmen’s Boat Landing in MN and connecting to the path beneath the Cass Street Bridge (B-32-300) and Cameron Avenue Bridge (B-32-202) over the Mississippi River Main Channel in WI. The shared-use path would be 10-foot-wide asphalt surface, except on the US 14/61 westbound bridge (B-32-165) over the Mississippi River West Channel where the shared-use path would be a 14-foot-wide concrete bridge deck.
Anticipated Schedule: Public Involvement: Meeting late Winter/early Spring 2024 Construction in Fall 2026 through Fall 2027 Traffic Impacts/Detours: Project anticipated to be completed with single westbound lane closures. Phase: Final Design
