The South Side Neighborhood Center is located across from Poage Park on La Crosse’s south side. The South Side Neighborhood Center is a city building managed by the La Crosse Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department. Opened in 2002, this facility is used for multiple purposes, serving as a meeting facility, recreational facility, gathering place, and polling site for the community, in addition to being an important resource for the Powell, Poage and Hamilton Neighborhood Association. Guests can enjoy our Little Free Library, as well as board games and puzzles. All reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance. Stop by and see us today!

For facility reservations and availability, please call (608) 789-8298. Reservations must be done in person or over the phone and full payment is required at the time of booking your reservation. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance and must be reserved for a minimum of 2 hours.

Payment Policy

All fees must be paid in full at the time of the reservation. All reservations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Accepted payments include: cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. Please make checks payable to City of La Crosse Treasurer. A $25.00 service charge is assessed on all checks returned due to insufficient funds. Once a NSF check occurs, all future payments must be cash or credit card only.

 

Refund Policy

No refunds or credits will be issued for shelter/facility reservations.

 

Deadlines

Reservations can be made no more than 180 days in advance and no less than 7 days prior to requested date.

*Not all dates may be available due to facilities being closed for holidays and/or staffing availability.

 

Lost & Stolen Items

The department is not responsible for personal equipment, clothes, decorations, etc. that are lost or stolen during any reservation. However, please contact our office concerning lost items, as many times they are turned in by others. Items of value will be turned over to the Police Department after one week. Clothing and other items will be donated after one month.

 

Smoking in City Parks & Facilities

City ordinance section 34-73 states no smoking or use of tobacco products is permitted in City Parks. “Smoking" means inhaling, exhaling, burning, or carrying any lighted cigar, cigarette, pipe, hookah pipe, plant, or other combustible substance in any manner or in any form and use of electronic devices with electrical ignition or vaporization (e-cigarettes/cigars or similar devices).

 

Alcohol in City Parks & Facilities

There is no alcohol allowed at the South Side Neighborhood Center.

Frequently Asked Questions 

Is there a minimum time requirement for reservations?

Yes, reservations are required to have a two-hour minimum.

 

Do I have to pay for set up/take down time?

Yes, upon your arrival your reservation time will begin. If you need to change the time of your reservation to accommodate lengthier set ups lease call and let staff know.

 

Do you supply tablecloths, dishes, silverware, or linens?

We do not supply any of the items listed above. We supply, dependent on the room you have reserved, kitchenette, AV, tables, and chairs.

 

Can I have food catered?

Yes! We have no catering requirements or limitations.

 

Are any outdoor spaces included in my reservation?

The only outdoor space that accompanies a reservation is the patio adjacent to the Centennial Hall.
