Badger Hickey Park

A sign for Badger Hickey Park, established in 1959, with a playground and building in the background.

Badger Hickey Park, at the corner of Palace and Charles Streets, was formerly railroad right-of-way. It was purchased by the City in 1958 and filled in for use as a recreational area. In 1959 the City Council asked the Roosevelt School PTA to hold a naming contest for the park, and it became Badger Playground. On July 9, 1981 it was renamed by the City Council to honor the memory of Council member George Hickey. Badger Hickey Park got a huge makeover in 2020. New playground equipment and a zip line were installed and a new shelter and open- air gazebo were built. This 2.82 acre neighborhood park is in great shape to welcome those who want relaxation as well as a place for active play.
