Springbrook Park

Springbrook Park was established in 1963.

Lee A. Allen was a go-getter resident who lived near the park. Lee took it upon himself to reach out to the mayor and raise funds to build a shelter at the park, soon after permanent restrooms were built, and with the waterlines already being needed he thought the kids would love a splashpad as well.  Lee noticed that the park was missing something, a playground, so he asked the mayor if some of the old equipment could be used to build one at Springbrook. What he got instead was an entirely new playground. The design was up to him, which he tackled with the same dedication that had helped the park receive so many other things.  On May 11, 2019, Lee passed away peacefully at his home. He was able to see some of the park being built, but according to his wife, as far as he was concerned he got to see the park completed.  On July 13, 2019, the park was dedicated to the person who brought it into existence, and so its name is now the Lee A. Allen playground.
