The Parks & Recreation Department offers a variety of music programs concerts throughout the year.
International Folk Dance
Saturdays; May 2 & 16, June 13 & 20, July 11 & 18, August 1 & 15, September 12 & 19, 2026

Come experience the joy of movement, dance, community, and a taste of the world through International Folk Dance. Easy line and circle dances will be taught. No experience or partner needed.
Music Cafe
Are you looking for something to do that will be fun, entertaining, and provide the opportunity to meet new people? Join these Thursday afternoon concerts! Local musicians will perform throughout the series to provide entertainment, while sharing their experience and appreciation of music.

Great River Ringers Spring Concert
Sunday, May 17, 2026 | 2 p.m.-3 p.m.
FREE | Black River Beach Neighborhood Center
The Great River Ringers will bring the sounds and moods of the season with their unique blend of handbells and other percussion instruments. Refreshments will follow the concert.
La Crosse Community Theater Senior Previews
Seniors ages 62+ are invited to enjoy the dress rehearsal of select La Crosse Community Theater productions at 7:30 p.m. the Thursday prior to the show opening. Tickets must be picked up in person at the Black River Beach and South Side Neighborhood Centers and the Parks and Recreation window at City Hall.
Please note: Tickets are sold on a first come basis and cannot be held. They must be picked up and paid for in person.

Tuesday, June 2, 2026: Grumpy Old Men
The Grumpy Old Men swing band is a 14-piece big band. The band consists of mostly retired musicians who still love to play their instruments and the music of the swing era. The band’s repertoire includes the music of Glenn Miller, Les Brown, and others.
Tuesday, June 9, 2026: Under Paris Skies
This acoustic band celebrates the music of French sidewalk cafes, vintage American jazz clubs, Argentine dance halls, and various Latin rhythms. Together Ron Reimer, Steven Meger, and Chris Hand forge a unique musical blend of wall-of-sound accordion, swinging guitar, and rocking bass. They also feature vocals by the divine Ms. Em(ily) Post, sung mostly in French. Sophisticated arrangements and sentimental melodies carry you to faraway and familiar places.
Tuesday, June 16, 2026: West Salem Adult Jazz Band
The West Salem Adult Jazz Band was formed early in 1993 by a few West Salem High School alumni band members. The band was to serve as a warm-up for the February ’94 appearance of the Maynard Ferguson Band. Selections range from big band classics to more recent pop stylings, from ballads to dance tunes, from Latin to Swing, and vocal features to production numbers.
Tuesday, June 23, 2026: Star Geezers
Four old guys playing music that they grew up with. Band members include Tom Baker, guitar upright bass; Len Soller, guitar, banjo; Jim Theil, electric bass; Dave Osley, drums. Star Geezers repertoire includes rock and roll, classic country, classic oldies, and John Denver hits.
Tuesday, June 30, 2026: Big Strum!
Enjoy this acoustic two-piece band with a folk-rock repertoire as band members, Bill Truttschel and John Pinski, show their talents on vocals, guitar, ukulele, and harmonica to perform musical selections from the 60’s through today.
Tuesday, July 7, 2026: Mark IV
Start with hits from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Then add Country songs, jazz standards and one disco tune. What do you get? "The Mark IV" band. Local musicians Therese Roellich-Bernadot, Greg Bergh, Randy Bartlett, and Jon Hetland make up this crew. "We think it's almost like Heaven. We've been going strong since 1967."
Tuesday, July 14, 2026: Pearl Street Banjo Band
Come listen to some hot jazz from the roaring 20s. Hear some of your favorite tunes, including “When the Saints Go Marching In,” “Bourbon Street Parade,” and “Up the Lazy River,” played by band members Paul Erickson, leader and banjo; Fred Dodd, plectrum banjo; Mark Glasel, trombone; and Neil Duresky, string bass.
Tuesday, July 21, 2026: Seven Rivers Jazz Band
Listen to some swinging jazz. Their repertoire is mainly New Orleans style jazz.The current band has played together for twenty years and consists of seasoned musicians Gary Urness, keyboard and trumpet; Mark Glasel, trombone; Tammy Fisher, drums; Neil Duresky, bass; Ray Dretske, saxophone; and Paul Erickson, banjo and guitar.
Tuesday, July 28, 2026: Driftless River Band
The Driftless River Band has been together for about 15 years playing a wide variety of music, including classic country, classic rock, alt country, alternative /indie rock, and some originals. The core of the band includes Jason Gilman on rhythm guitar and vocals, Dan Leis on bass guitar and vocals, and Greg Meeuwsen on lead guitar, banjo, mandolin, and vocals.
Tuesday, August 4, 2026: Pinski Brothers Band
John and Rich Pinski, guitar and keyboards, have performed together since they were teenagers, professionally since the late 1970s. Then they met drummer Bill Craig, and the Pinski Brothers Band was born. Bill Truttschel joins the band on guitar. The Pinski Brothers Band plays a wide range of styles including classic rock, polka, bluegrass, country, and swing; so there is something for everyone.
Tuesday, August 11, 2026: Coulee Accordions of the Tri State Accordion Club
Enjoy pretzels, (root) BEER, and polkas! Bring your partner and dancing shoes! The Tri-state Accordion Club has been around for at least a decade but is perhaps best known for their continued participation in the Oktoberfest Parade, where they have won three consecutive awards in the past three parades for musical excellence. The group loves to play the polkas and waltzes that people associate with the accordion, but also include in their repertoire’s classical tunes, marches, standard pop tunes, country tunes, folk tunes, soft rock tunes, and music that is surprising to hear on the accordion.

Prairie Smoke combines the influences of American folk and the Celtic traditions of Scottish and Irish Aires, jigs, and reels. Erin Hussey, Betsy Knowles, Rita Koch-Thometz, Tom Walter, and Jamie Groth perform on hammered and mountain dulcimer, fiddle, banjo, flute, bass, guitar, and mandolin.
