The City of La Crosse will be closed for business on Monday, September 7, 2026 in observance of Labor Day. City Hall and other municipal offices will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
The La Crosse City Assessor’s Office will make diligent inquiry and examination of all taxable property within the boundaries of the City of La Crosse.
We will produce fair, impartial, and accurate market values ensuring uniform treatment for all taxpayers, with balanced integrity to the assessment process in accordance with the laws of the State of Wisconsin.

Through 2023 Wisconsin Act 12, the Wisconsin state legislature has repealed the taxation of personal property. The majority of what was considered personal property in 2023 will be exempt from taxation as of January 1, 2024.
