The City of La Crosse Parks Department cares for and maintains a 1,500+ acre park system including 47 park sites, 18 shelters/avilions, 12 athletic fields, an 18-hole disc golf course, 27 miles of paved trails, and 45+ miles of natural surface trails. In addition, the department also manages the 1,200 acre riparian marsh, and over 1,300 acres of public lands across the bluffs.

Did you know the City of La Crosse Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department maintains 32 public playgrounds across the city? Grab your printable Playground Passport and start your adventure! Use it to track your visits and rate each playground along the way.
Once you’ve explored them all and completed your Passport, turn it in to receive a free custom Parks & Recreation button as a reward for your playground-hopping journey! Playground Passport prizes can be picked up at Black River Beach Neighborhood Center, South Side Neighborhood Center, or City Hall.
