Special Olympics Wisconsin - La Crosse Area is a non-profit agency that provides individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in sports competition, develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, and experience joy while participating in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendships with their families, Special Olympics athletes, and the community. In order to be eligible for Special Olympics sports, athletes must be 8 years of age or older with an intellectual disability.

The La Crosse Area Special Olympics does 13 sports throughout the year (listed below). You can find which sports are being offered

We have a lot of different activities including monthly bingo, activity nights, and parties. We also have other events throughout the year. Check out the Special Recreation Page for more information.

Athlete Registration

Special Olympics is now requiring Athlete Registration forms (previously Athlete Medical Forms were required). These will be required annually from the date they were signed. Below are a few hints to make this process easier on you, the attachment descriptions from me followed by the Special Olympics information and link. If you have not completed the form this year, please have them completed by the due dates listed in the FAQ to ensure your athlete is eligible for tournaments and practices. If you are unable to complete the form online by yourself or online, please contact me as soon as possible so we can work together to get it completed.

Hints:

  • A medical professional form is no longer.
  • Special Olympics still highly recommends annual wellness visits with your doctor.
  • The first time you will need to create an account.
  • You will need your log in information for future years.
  • Athletes can fill this out if they are their own guardian.
  • I would suggest that they have someone nearby to assist, though.
  • If a parent or guardian is completing the form, it will start asking a few questions about them.
  • Only questions with a red asterisk (*) are required.
  • We are Region 6 and our program is 6-36 La Crosse.
  • The email listed will receive emails reminding you to complete the form again at 90 days prior to expiration, 60 days prior to expiration, and 30 days prior to expiration.
  • The form is active for one year from the date you sign, so I would recommend you do it closer to a year from date you completed so you are not completing it more often than needed.

Please view the three pdfs to assist.

  1. Quick Guide for Athletes who are creating an account.
  2. Quick Guide for Parents or Guardians who are creating an account.
  3. Frequently Asked Questions.
  4. You can click on a question in the Athlete Zone: Questions and Answers and be taken straight to that answer.

Visit the Special Olympics Portal link below and complete all required online forms.
All athletes—new and returning—must begin here when joining or updating their information.
You must have a valid email address to use the Special Olympics Portal.
