About Shelters & Facilities

Regular Season Reservation Dates: April 15 – October 15
Off Season Reservation Dates: October 16 – April 14
All reservations can begin as early as 8 a.m. and must end by 10:30 p.m.
All parks in the City of La Crosse are open daily from 6 a.m.-11 p.m.

Rooms: Trane All Abilities Park offers a room to reserve that is located right next to the park action! This temperature-controlled space is a step up from rustic park shelters, and provides a bit more comfort for guests. It also features indoor restrooms as well as a sink and counter space.

Pavilions: There are a number of pavilions available to reserve in the La Crosse parks system. The pavilions are a roofed structure with completely open sides, with no steps to climb. Feel the cooling summer breezes and be protected from an unexpected rain shower. Many of these offer a beautiful setting or are located near playgrounds.

Shelters: Park shelters are the most popular site for celebrations and gatherings. They range in size from a smaller log cabin type structures to the large limestone Myrick Park Main Shelter which holds 300 people. All shelters have access to modern restrooms.

Gazebos: Gazebos are freestanding structure, roofed, and open on all sides. They provide shade, shelter from rain and a place to rest, while acting as an ornamental feature.

Notes & Policies

  • Reservations must be made minimum of 7 days in advance.  
  • Be prepared to show your driver's license.
  • All household contact information will be entered/verified in our system.
  • Please be prepared with your choice of dates and facilities when making reservations. Have a second and third option ready.
  • All shelters must be paid in full at the time of reservation.  We accept cash, checks made payable to City Treasurer, or credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, or Discover).
  • Please review your receipt to ensure all information is correct.
  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. If you must cancel or change the date of your reservation please call 608.789.7533. Any reservation date changes for park shelters/facilities must be made within three days of making the reservation or at least 60 days prior to the reservation date.
  • Please be sure to check each park for more information about the amenities available by location. For Off Season Reservations, facilities available are limited and some of the amenities may not be available, including running water and/or indoor restrooms.
  • Tent/Structure Policy: Tents or any structure that needs to be staked into the ground will be assessed a $100 structure fee and a map will need to be submitted minimum of 1 week prior to the event.  Call 608-789-7533 to process the tent fee.  Event host is responsible for calling Digger’s Hotline. 
  • No alcohol unless previously approved. (Code Sec. 34-66) 
  • No sales of merchandise to participants or to the general public unless previously approved. (Code Sec. 34-54)
  • No smoking or using tobacco products in City parks. (Code Sec. 34-73)
  • No fires. (Code Sec. 34-58) 
  • No parking outside of designated or approved parking areas. (Code Sec. 34-71)
  • No Littering. (Code Sec. 34-61)
  • No animals in City parks, athletic fields, and trails without a leash. (Code Sec. 34-64) 
  • No destruction of property. (Code Sec. 34-55)

  • No refunds or credits on cancelled reservations.

Annual Community Events

Annual Community Event Park, Shelter, or Trail Requests 

All events and programs raising money, charging a fee, and/or selling alcohol are required to get approval from the City of La Crosse Board of Park Commissioners to use a facility and/or shelter. All requests will be presented to the Board of Park Commissioners at the November meeting; therefore, your request must be submitted to the Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department by November 1st. Fill out the Annual Community Event Request Form here.
